Detail
SiMAG
SiMAG particles are magnetic silica beads with superparamagnetic or ferromagnetic properties and possess either a highly porous or a non-porous silica surface.
The beads are available with diameters of 0.5 µm to 1 µm and are easily separable by magnetic batch procedures.
The surface area provides a high binding capacity of biomolecules such as purified DNA/RNA or of bioaffine ligands, e.g. antibodies or proteins.
SiMAG beads have an inert and stable solid-phase silica matrix without autofluorescence and are autoclaved for sterile applications.
SiMAG beads can be used for ion-exchange, hydrophobic or covalent binding of biological substances due to the chemical modification of the silica surface with a variety of functional groups.
The hydrophilic character, the mechanical stability, the resistance to microbiological degradation, and excellent reproducibility are SiMAG's major advantages in biotechnology applications.

SiMAG - basic
SiMAG-Silanol beads have an unmodified silica surface with terminal negatively charged silanol groups. These superparamagnetic beads are applicable for a wide range of applications in biochromatography, e.g. purification of DNA/RNA, adsorption of biomolecules or isolation of basic proteins.
chemicell offers three different kinds of SiMAG-Silanol particles: SiMAG/F-Silanol, SiMAG/T-Silanol and SiMAG/N-Silanol caused by different silica coating procedures which generate different silica layers with a diverse distribution and formation of silanol groups (e.g. silanol, di-silanol, tri-silanol groups).
As a result of this these different kinds of SiMAG-Silanol particles will offer a different surface charge and charge distribution which will influence the binding property to DNA, RNA and proteins.
Please contact and inform us for which application and which target molecule you will use the SiMAG-Silanol beads.

SiMAG-DNA
SiMAG/K-DNA and SiMAG/MP-DNA beads have been developed for automatic DNA/RNA separation such as genomic DNA, plasmid DNA, total RNA and PCR products. DNA/RNA bind to these porous silica surface under high salts conditions (5 M guanidinium thiocyanate). The superparamagnetic SiMAG/K-DNA beads and the ferromagnetic SiMAG/MP-DNA beads have excellent magnetic properties and are therefore most suited for automatic DNA/RNA separation / purification. Since different robot systems work with different processing methods or magnetic separation systems, either superparamagnetic or ferromagnetic SiMAG-DNA beads will lead to optimal results.

SiMAG - ionex
SiMAG-ionex - terminal ion-exchange groups are reversibly to charged groups of biomolecules and can be eluted with salt- or pH-gradient. Ion-exchange separation can be used for many applications such as the isolation of proteins, antibodies, DNA/RNA and other biomolecules.
Anion-exchange magnetic particles bind selectively to the negatively charged membrane groups of cells, bacteria or viruses which can be separated by magnetic forces.

Separation of antibodies, proteins or peptides

SiMAG - hydrophobe
SiMAG-hydrophobe - is a useful tool for the magnetic separation of biomolecules based on differences in surface hydrophobicity. The hydrophobe regions from proteins, peptides, enzymes or nucleic acids are preferentially targeted by hydrophobic interaction. The binding strength depends on the ionic conditions, the detergents, the pH and the temperature.
